  40-year textile professional Kristine Berg\, on Saturday September 12 fro
 m 1-5pm at the Guild&nbsp\;for this 4-hour hands-on workshop and learn&nbs
 p\;the basics of modern smocking and fabric manipulation.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Wit
 h a ruler\, needle\, and thread\, you will follow measured pathways to tra
 nsform fabric into sculptural forms that echo landforms\, waves\, and bask
 etry\, all arising from intentional folds and carefully placed stitches.&n
 bsp\;&nbsp\;You will learn how to create a grid\, interpret and copy a des
 ign pattern\, and create a 3d sample. Most participants will complete two 
 different design samples within class time!&nbsp\;Kristine will bring exam
 ples of her&nbsp\;complex-looking&nbsp\;Textile Origami technique in a ran
 ge of fabrics – from linen and cotton to velvet and polyester – to ill
 ustrate how results vary across materials\, as well as examples demonstrat
 ing an array of applications. This workshop is for ages 18+ and all skill 
 levels are welcome--no experience is required other than the ability to th
 read a sewing needle!
